MADC Declares March 16 as ‘Mara Literature Day’

The Executive Committee of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC), in its meeting held on August 6, 2025, approved the proposal submitted by the Board of Mara Literature to designate March 16 as ‘Mara Literature Day’.

Accordingly, March 16 will now be observed annually as ‘Mara Literature Day’ and will be included in the official MADC calendar. This decision reflects the Council’s commitment to promoting and preserving the literary heritage and cultural identity of the Mara people.

An official Office Memorandum has been issued to notify the public of this declaration. The Mara community is encouraged to take note of this important date as a recognition of Mara language and literature.
