How to Cut or Trim a Video in Adobe Premiere Pro 2023

1. Open Adobe Premiere Pro 2023 on your computer.

2. Create a New Project.

3.Import your video file into the Project panel.

4. Drag and drop the video from the Project panel onto the Timeline.

5. Move the playhead (the vertical blue line) to the point where you want to cut the video.

6. Select the Razor Tool by pressing C on your keyboard.

7. Click on the video clip at the point where you want to make the first cut.

8. Move the playhead to the second point where you want to make another cut.

9. Click the video clip again with the Razor Tool.

10. Press V to switch back to the Selection Tool.

11. Click the unwanted section of the video to select it.

12. Press Delete on your keyboard to remove the unwanted section.

13. If there is an unwanted gap, right-click the gap and select Ripple Delete to automatically close the gap.

14. Play the video from the beginning and check that the desired portion has been trimmed correctly.

15. When you are satisfied with the result, go to File → Export → Media.

16. Select your desired export settings, such as H.264 for an MP4 video.

17. Choose the location where you want to save the exported video.

18. Click Export to create the final video.

An easier way to trim

If you simply want to remove the beginning or end of a video, you don’t need the Razor Tool.

1). Select the Selection Tool (V).

2). Move your mouse to the beginning or end of the clip until the trim cursor appears.

3). Drag the edge of the clip inward to shorten it.

4). Play the video to check the result.

Important: In Premiere Pro, Razor Tool = cut/split, while Trim = shorten the beginning or end of a clip.
