Upgrading to Airtel eSIM – Easy Step-by-Step Guide (Using the Airtel Thanks App)
Follow these simple steps to upgrade your physical SIM to an eSIM using the Airtel Thanks app.
Airtel eSIM Activation Guide: Quick and Clear Instructions
1. Log in to the Airtel Thanks App
- Open the Airtel Thanks app.
- Log in using the Airtel number that you want to upgrade to eSIM.
- Note: The mobile handset used for logging in must be eSIM-enabled.
2. Go to the eSIM Upgrade Section
- On the home screen, scroll down to Shortcuts.
- Tap on More.
- Select Upgrade to eSIM.
- You will see your Airtel number displayed automatically.
This number cannot be edited.
3. Enter Your Device EID Number
- Tap on This Device.
- The EID number is a unique 32-digit number for every eSIM-enabled device.
- Important: The eSIM will be installed on the device whose EID you provide.
How to find the EID on iOS devices:
- Go to Settings > General > About.
- Scroll to find the 32-digit EID (starting with 89).
- Long-press to copy the EID.
Return to the Airtel Thanks app and paste the 32-digit EID in the required field.
4. Get eSIM via OTP
- Tap Get eSIM via OTP.
- Note: SMS services, including OTPs, will be temporarily disabled and will resume within 24 hours after completing the upgrade.
- Enter the 6-digit OTP received and tap Proceed.
5. Confirmation Call
- You will receive a confirmation call on your number within 10 minutes of entering the OTP.
- Provide your consent on the call to validate and submit the eSIM request.
- Your request will be registered instantly.
6. Install the eSIM Profile (After 2 Hours)
- You will be able to install the eSIM profile 2 hours after giving consent.
- Open Settings on your device.
- On the home screen, tap Finish Setting Up Mobile Service.
- Tap Continue to begin installation and follow the on-screen instructions until completion.
Important Points to Remember
Avoid performing a factory reset, as it may delete the eSIM profile from your device.
After switching from physical SIM to eSIM:
Activate the new eSIM profile.
Remove the physical SIM.
Restart your device.
Do NOT share your EID number with anyone, as it may lead to unauthorized access.
Do NOT remove or delete your eSIM profile once activated.
