Union MoS George Kurian Virtually Lays Foundation Stone for PMJVK Projects in Siaha

Siaha, July 16, 2025: Shri George Kurian, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, today laid the foundation stone—via video conferencing—for two key development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in Siaha District, Mizoram.

The two projects, with a total estimated cost of ₹12 crore, are:

1. Construction of a Public Market cum Multipurpose Centre and Women Facilitation Centre at Tipa V, and

2. Construction of a Multipurpose Community Hall at Siaha.

The virtual foundation-laying ceremony took place at the MADC Golden Jubilee Hall, Siaha, and was chaired by Shri Abraham Beirazi Khithie, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Siaha. The event saw active participation from officials of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) and the Government of Mizoram.

In his address, Shri Kurian reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to inclusive development as envisioned in Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized that these infrastructure projects will greatly enhance local facilities, empower women, and improve the socio-economic well-being of the people of the Mara region.

Shri M. Laikaw, Chief Executive Member of MADC, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Central Government for its continued support and reiterated the Council’s commitment to inclusive grassroots development.

The event was also attended virtually by Dr. K. Beichhua and Shri K. Hrahmo, Members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, along with Shri Delson Nôtlia, MDC, BJP National Minority Morcha Secretary.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Abraham Beirazi Khithie, who appreciated the collective efforts of all those involved in ensuring the success of the occasion.
